Dear Grandma

I always wonder what kind of relationship my children feel that they have with their grandparents. I was blessed to live very close to my grandparents, and I sometimes feel guilty that my children aren't getting the same privilege that I had while growing up. That said, here is one of Stacie's school assignments that I found while going through the stack of schoolwork she left for my review. I'll skip all the address and date part--just to make me feel a little safer. ;)

Dear Grandma,

At this time of year, I would like you to know how much I appreciate you. First, I am really glad you taught me how to crochet. (Editor note: Grandma gave her about 1 hour worth of instruction!) Hot pads seem to disappear at our house, so I constantly have to keep making them. Also, I just finished my first dishrag. I also appreciate you for your funnies. I had a really bad day at school a couple of weeks ago and I walk into mom's room and mom tells me that she just called you. That's nothing out of the ordinary, until mom tells me what she said. She says that "you have created a monster", and that you didn't understand what that meant until mom told you. I thought that was so funny!

I would also like to thank you for showing me your afghans. I saw one of them with tassels on it and wondered how you made it. I wondered so much that I went and got a book that had an afghan with tassels in it. That's the same book that showed me how to make a dishrag.

Again, I would like to thank you for the wonderful aspects you have added to my life. I will be forever grateful for your love and support. I am so glad to have you in my life. With love, Stacie
