Looking Forward

I'm enjoying a quiet day at home. Alone. Just me and the pets (all 5 of them). This won't happen again for quite some time. There are only 4 days of school left for this year. *insert hallelujah music here* I'm really quite OK with this, especially since I hate to pack lunchboxes and the end of the school year = an end to lunchboxes... for now.

However, the end of the school year ushers in the month of June, which is rapidly filling up to be a wild ride. *Please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times. Make sure your lap belts are completely fastened and enjoy the ride.* Here's the easy version.

Friday, June 3rd: school is dismissed for the summer.

Saturday, June 4th: Jessica takes either the SAT or ACT test. (I can't remember which, I hope she can.)

Monday & Tuesday, June 6 & 7: Cub Scout Wolf Day Camp for Porter.

also Monday, June 6: Jessie (re)starts job #2 at the pool as a lifeguard/swim instructor. Yes, you did read that correctly. My teenager will be working 2 jobs this summer. And going to Washington D.C. And going to girl's camp. And going on Trek with the stake. No, I don't plan on seeing her much.

Thursday, June 9-Saturday June 11: Cub Scout Webelos Day Camp & overnighter for Nathan.

Saturday, June 11: Jessica takes the other of the ACT/SAT test.

Monday, June 16: Begin "lunch in the park" program & "reading rocks". This is also known as "send children to the park to eat for free and play on the playground equipment for a couple of hours of mom I'm not bored time and encourage the kids to read throughout the summer by bribing them with free books."

Monday, June 20: Put my daughter on an airplane for the 1st time in her life...AND without a parent/friend/associate/mentor/chaperon. Say good-bye for 6 days while she enjoys Washington D.C. (Yeah, Mom IS nervous, thanks for asking.) Try not to cry in front of her or go to work with red, swollen eyes.

Sunday, June 26: Pick up Jessica from the airport. Try really hard not to cry in front of her. (I'll let you know how that works out.)

Monday, June 27: Leave for girl's camp with Jessica & Stacie. Hope that Earl and the younger 3 can get some repair work done on the house while we are gone. Really hope that dad doesn't feed the kids McDonald's and Hungry Man for the 5 days we are gone.

Saturday, July 2: Dilemma: Do we take the kids camping for the 4th of July weekend as we have done the past 2 years, or stay home and attend the company picnic/baseball game and let Jessica actually sleep in her own bed? Hmm.... I'll get back to you on that one.

As you can see, it's gonna be a fun one. *Please remain seated until the ride has come to a full and complete stop. Thank you for visiting our amusement park and have a safe summer vacation. * Welcome to mi vida loca.

P.S. Did you notice that not a lot was said about Stacie or McKenzie. Well, Stacie is applying for a summer job, but we haven't heard back on anything yet. As for McKenzie, well, Kenzie might be bored.
